So I have made it to day 7, cold turkey! Those are words I didn’t expect to be saying.
I feel surprisingly well - not coughing as much, look healthier (if that’s possible in 7 days?), bike riding to work has got easier and I generally feel good about my achievement.
Here’s the BUT… I still want to smoke - well not smoke, but at times I do feel like chaining a whole pack of 20!!
It seems everything is going well and I feel good, but then boom, it feels like I am back to square one again! How long will this last?
Hope all you guys are doing well and here’s to another day smoke free

Thing is, although it feels like you are back at square one again, you are in fact on day 7 - Waaaheeeeey!
Thinking you are back at square one is addict's thinking! (I get it too, so no condemnation there) It's always false.
You may get hit by a strong urge for some time yet. However, it will happen less and less often. One day fairly soon you will realise that you haven't thought about smoking all day.
I feel like I could have written your post myself too funny. Some days are easier than others. Having said that.... when I think about wanting a cigarette, there is just a hint of a change now coming about and that is if you think about your craving I will just bet that it is just a teeny bit less then the previous days. Sometimes barely perceptible but it is there. You are getting stronger, trust in that!!!
Hang in there Rustler, day 7 is nearly done & dusted.
Them cravings are little buggers, sneaking up on you, trying to get their own way.....dont let them, we have to stay strong & in control, sometimes easier said than done but never impossible if we really want to do this.
7 Days with out a cig is a great achievement. Remember when you smoked and couldn't go an hour or 2 max with out one? I Bet the cravings aint half as bad than if you smoked and couldn't have one for a few hours.
Feeling back to square one is due to the little nicotine monster saying please feed me. Everytime you don't feed it your killing the monster bit by bit and your body is rejecting the disease of smoking.
Don't quit quitting.....
Don't look at tomorrow as day 8 look at it as your second week
Welcome Rustler! You sound very positive and upbeat, that is just great and you will make lots of quit buddies on here too which will make things sooooo much easier for you. Good luck with your quit
