I have been listening to Alan Carr to get inspired to put down the cigarettes for good. I am a little apprehensive although feeling positive. I have quit before but picked up at an emotional time. I am hoping this time I can go the distance. Anyone got any tips on a successful quit?
New to the forum day one for me.: I have been... - No Smoking Day
New to the forum day one for me.
I hope this time you can go the distance too Kyl. There's really no reason why you cant. There's loads of top people on here who will all have loads of top tips. For me....and I think for many on here......the toppest of tips is to not think too far ahead. In fact...dont think ahead at all if you can help it. Stay in the moment and deal with each crave as it happens, one at a time. Just try to relax and not smoke in the moment that you are in......and celebrate your none smokey greatness each time you beat a crave. I promise....pretty soon the craves get less and less until they are gone.
Hey Kyl, how long did you give up for before?
day one on here for me too..... week 3 quitting....... had a couple of blips, but i am still fighting through
Just take it one day at a time, keep busy, do whatever it takes but don't have one drag or you'll be back to square one... Always remember that you can't die from a craving!!
Good luck

Welcome Kyl and well done on making the decision to stop. Like everyone else, I would say take it one crave/hour/day at a time, whatever works best for you. And stop by regularly for help, support or a little bit of venting. There will always be someone who can help you.
Good luck
Welcome Kyl welcome to day 1, its over and we can congratulate ourselfs on getting through it.
do check in aily for advice and tips, and as above there will always be someone to chat too if it does get to much!

So many new quitters!
Wow I cant believe how many new quitters we have on here how bloody brilliant is that! As everyone says just take it one day at a time and use this forum for advice and support. You can all do this!
Hi Kyl,
The best tip I can give you is to always remember that you are in control of your own destiny, and that so long as you believe in yourself - potentially reinforced by a bit of support and reminders from the forum members here - there is absolutely no reason why you wouldn't be successful.
Alex.
