When I started my quit back on March 14, I remember thinking to myself, If I can just make it to 82 days, 12 hours, and 50 minutes, I know I'll succeed.
Okay, I'm making that up. I didn't think that.
What I really thought was, I hope I can get through the first day!
I did, and that gave me a little "quit streak" to start protecting. Day 2 was all about doubling Day 1. Day 3 was all about completing the purge of nicotine from my system.
After that, the time quit began to look longer and longer, and part of what kept me going was that I didn't want to spoil the streak.
That's still important, and one reason I won't smoke today. After all, I don't want 82 days, 12 hours, and 53 minutes to go up in smoke, right?
