Well, well, 3 weeks are done and it's in to week 4! :D

Myself and Rochelle have the same quit date and Si is not too far behind us. I know about Dolly, but where is Becs? She said she was going to a party last weekend and that it would be a test, I hope she passed it.

Whilst quitting on the same day, Rochelle and I have different quit methods yet both of us seem to be going through the quit relatively easily (in the grand scheme of things).

It just goes to prove that there is no right or wrong method to use and that it's more your state of mind and mental attitude that counts.

Rochelle uses patches and some of Allen Carr's theory, whilst I have gone cold turkey and haven't read Allen Carr, but I'm guessing that I'm not far off what he espouses.

It's definitely getting easier and easier. I hope I haven't spoken too soon but I don't think so.

Hurry up Si, we're waiting for you :D

I didn't use allens method 100% as I use patches, but I did follow all his other instructions.

Wow so next week we will be living through month 2. Its gone fast hasn't it?

Well done!! I said to my work mates, its a lot easier than dieting!! And it is easier than dieting lol

And yeah, becoming too over confident is a reaaaaally bad trait. I often feel a little nervous, like when you get a crave, I can only describe that as a real nervous feeling. I still get the very odd crave. I'm not done yet. And none of us can see into the future so how do we know we will never want another puff?

Right now I don't, but I can't say how ill feel in the future. I think not becoming too confident is really good advice.

Lol!

It depends how you look at it.

This week is week 4 and at the end of it we will be on 24th February.

Really our 2nd month starts on 27th February whilst it's slightly different for Si and Becs (where is she!).

I'm staying here until 27th because that is a proper full month then :)

Good morning fellow forumites. Hope your all having a good week end.

Just realise this is my 21st day of not smoking,Three weeks under my belt. how good are we eh.

I cant wait to get a full month knocked down. 30th feb is the full month date for me.

I think this forum is so good for motivation, the wobbles we all suffered in the early days seem to far away now. but just think one cigarette would bring all them back!!!

Do we really want to go through all them again???? NO

Keep going people.

Lol@ 30th feb.

Oh I've got real bad anger issues at the min, had a little outburst this afternoon. We hired a vibroplate a couple of weeks ago and nobodys used it. Well today I walked into it backwards and didn't have bang my foot and my bum, well that was it I saw red!! 'Wtf have we even got that there for!!!!!' Was my argument. 'No-ones even f*cking used it!!!' Then I got told 'I wish you'd snap out of it' does that help? No!!!

And then I feel guilty so I sit and cry my eyes out that's gone on for 2 days now!! Then I calm down and go back to normal. What the hell? Its not cos I'm craving or anything, I'm not. Not wanting to ever smoke again. I rather enjoy my smoke free life and my new routine. Why am I feeling like this right now??

nsd_user663_42220 profile image
nsd_user663_42220

Mentally you may not be craving Rochelle, but physically your body probably is still craving.

You're a tough cookie, you can tell from your posts and it was obvious from day 1.

You'll make it and eventually the tetchiness will subside :)

Thanks. The funny thing is that I just don't want to smoke, its never crossed my mind that I need or want to smoke. And I thought the patches would see to all the physical stuff but obviously not :(

Its weird cos I havnt been tetchy up until this point, and when the rages come, I just have no control over them and once I've been really angry I do tend to cry I always have been that way just feels more strong and powerful right now.

I'm ok for now, just like it passed yesterday. But I hope it doesn't come again tomorrow :( I hate having no control over if I have an outburst or not

Perhaps you are far enough into your quit that your body is grasping for any last remnants of nicotine that may be left.

Perhaps it's showing you that you are approaching the brow of the hill and if you can get over the top it's all downhill after that.

Mentally I'm in a place that no longer wants to smoke, ever again, but I still get the occasional physical pangs.

However it's mind over matter and I'm in the right frame of mind and smoking no longer matters. :)

Yeah that's how I feel so doesn't really explain the rages and low moods.

Maybe there's something else underlying. Ill talk to the nurse on friday when I go. My mam asked me if I was maybe pregnant but I know I'm not. I suppose I could be down because I couldn't stop eating this weekend?? Lol

Have u not experienced any awful hurdles like this yet?

nsd_user663_42220 profile image

I still get the occassional physical urge to smoke but they are getting fewer and less intense.

No bad tempers or anything like that. I guess I'm lucky but I must admit I am one single minded, stubborn, hate to come second best, MF! :D

Good evening folks. Hope your all well.ha ha thanks for the heads up on the 30th of Feb. Didnt even realise. I was probably too busy working out my days. Weekends are not good for me as I found I smoked more. Were as when I'm at work Monday to friday I'm able to stay focus on my work so tend not to think about it.

I've even found myself this afternoon automatically standing up from my chair as if I was going for a cig.

Totally sub conscious. Weird or what. Just goes to show what affect it has in us. Never mind I'm into week four tmw. Still feel like a smoker that's stopped rather than a non smoker. One day i might see it differently.

I feel like a non smoker now. Simply because I can't see myself holding a cig again. I'm quite an OCD person. So ya know, its gonna take a lot to make me relapse in the future lol when I say I'm gonna do summit, and start doing it, I won't give in til its done. It gets done!! So hopefully that will apply to this :) it has so far.

Wishing you a good day today Si!! X

Sorry to interrupt but just wanted to give you a big (((hug))). I sincerely hope next week brings you better days x c

Thanks Karri :) it just came out of nowhere lol hope you're ok xx

Hi guys! I'm here! Still completely smoke free (unless you count the endless dreams where I'm smoking :) )

I was off work last week renovating our new house, lack of Internet connection and tiredness meant no posting. Hope everyone is doing well? I seem to be ok, still on the patches tho :( bypassed step 2 and onto step 3 for the last few days.

Hiya hun pleased you're still doing good!! How's the new house getting there then??

We've been having our bathroom done and I've been soooo down all weekend not being able to have a bath in my own home and I know its a daft reason but it brought on the rages lol I've explained on here. Was awful!! But It didn't make me wanna cig at all.

I can get a bath in my house tonight even though everythings not finished lol no more moody chelle :)

nsd_user663_41893 profile image

Haha! I can totally understand that, if I couldn't have a bath at home I'd be p'd off, never mind giving up cigs or not!! Hope your rages are on there way out tho now.

House coming along ok, looking forward to moving to a completely smoke free house with no smoking associations :)

I really can't believe I've made it 3 weeks. :) :)

Hello Guys

Can I please join this group ? I quit cold turkey on the 30th of Jan too.. slipped and smoked 3 ciggarettes on the 13th day but got right back on track immed and stayed smoke free since then. It has gotten a lot better with time. Have also tried to go to the gym religiously 5 times a week, started a couple of months back (part of the quit smoking plan) , try to eat healthy but eat a lot whole day .. and jaw aching from chewing sugar free gum all the time... but it seems to help a lot..

Congrat to all of you for quitting.

I smoked 20 a day for 20+ years, my first attempt at quitting and hoping this would be my last as i dont want to go through the torture of withdrawal ever again !!!

And also, when I slipped and got back on track, it wasnt like starting from scratch.. it was only a few hours of feeling horrible about smoking and wanting to smoke at the same time .. slept it off and from next day it was just like before and as it should feel on the 14th day of not smoking :)

On 27th February we both move into month 2 but the rest of the crew aren't far behind us. :)

We're turning the journey to the penthouse into a coach trip, but we have to stop off at the harbour for Zoe to board her yacht :D

Keep it going Dolly Mixtures and let us know how you are doing one and all, and that includes you all, Si, Dolly, Rochelle, Gina, Becs and Zoe!

hi all nice to see a little calm has been returned to the forum. We all get a bit tetchy dont we, understandable i suppose.

Today has been a strange day for me, my real first test, i know that might sound strange considering im on day 28. We have been to visit my wifes dad, my father in law, who is an absolute top bloke.

The thing is i started smoking again five years ago, i had been smoking on and off for years before that. Always stop start stop start. Whenever we got together we'd more or less, like most smokers, virtually chain smoke.

He knows im in the early stages of stopping and if truth be told i have pretty much stayed away because i knew that it would be my ultimate test.

I could feel the pressure mounting even before i stepped in to the car to drive us there, grumpy feelings just like i'd grown to know over the past three/four weeks.

Its a pretty fair way to his house and all the way i was talking to myself, talking myself round, thinking of how i would explain myself to you all.

When i got there, a few bits of banter was past about, but guess what he didnt smoke whilst i was there. Which i thought was very kind of him.

It didnt mean i wasnt thinking of it and lovely staring at his cigarettes on the coffee table.

Anyway to cut short im back home now, a little strange feeling running round my head, as if the monster is still there. i thought he might have gone by now but obviosly not, Proud of myself that i made it through, but feel a bit sad that im clearly no where near being a non smoker, or not as close as i thought i was.

btw my stopped date was the 30 January, does that mean that im on my second month as of thursday this week coming. dont think ive ever looked at a calendar as much in my life.
