Hi guys first post.Finished my Allen Carr Book for the Second time this morning. Read if first last week to get the idea for it and decided I would read it again in two sittings the second time so I could adsorb it all properly.
One thing I noticed after I read the book the first time is that any enjoyment I had for cigarettes (or thought I had) was gone. sort of finished the book the first time on Wednesday last week and from the time until my final fag this morning I have not enjoyed one at all. Usually the first one in the morning for me is heaven but since I read that book the first time I have been forcing my smoking.
Anyway today I am making the clean break and just stumbled on this site during my morning break so decided to join up. Would have loved a site like this when I had previously attempted to stop using NRT.
Anyway this is my first day as a non-smoker and I am enjoying it so far but I will be back later on as I find it more difficult at night not to smoke.

You'll find posting a great help indeed and Alan Carr's book work as well. The best advice I can give you is to keep a positive attitude and go through it day by day.
The first days can be tough plan ahead and be ready to deal with the cravings. Use the forum to vent out when you need to. We are all going to try and help you.
Welcome to the site Gregor. This is the best place to turn to when the going gets tough, because everyone here without exception knows how you're feeling! Ninetails is right, plan ahead. You know the craves are going to come, so have something to keep your hands/brain occupied and some cold water/nibbles on hand. Just remember, they will pass. And also remember, it's worth the pain.
I have already went through lunchtime no probs but I know when I will miss it the most and thats the minute I leave the office at half five! there is my first big test getting into the car and driving home without having a ciggie.
One of the biggest triggers I identified was the drive home and as long as I don't pop into the supermarket to buy fags I will be fine so I am going to head straight for the car.
The forum is a great Idea the way it is set out in days is superb. I f I am struggling I know where to pop in for help, even just reading other peoples stories is inspiring.
Well guys just about to leave the office for the day and this is a time I would normally light up, I am heading straight to the car and home for dinner which is my next trigger I feel not too bad at the moment lets see.
hi gregor, you sound like you are doing just fine! i had exactly the same feeling after finishing alan's book, like i didn't enjoy smoking any more, and that feeling never went away, so i feel you can really do this!! remember what alan says, cigs wont help you AT ALL, so stop thinking about them and leave them behind, embrace the joy of being FREE! quitting is easy as you are not giving up anything, in fact quitting is enjoyable! alan is a genius!!

cheers mate, went out a run tonight and I struggled but I had to go not been since the last effort on the patches when I lasted about two weeks then eventually ended up not bothering going runs and then back on the fags.
Now with the EASYWAY method I reckon I can do it, as I said when first reading the book I could not enjoy my fags every time I lit up they disgusted me and all I could do was go over and over in my head how they done absolutely nothing for me. read the last section (From about chapter 28 onwards to the final chapter 42) this morning and had my last fag then destroyed the remaining one in my packet. Was buzzing but as the day went on I felt not so good at times but still maintained not to smoke. Going to bed to watch the DVD. onwards to day 2.
feeling bad in the first few days is a sign that you are WINNING because you only get to feel bad if you continue to reject smoking! and the running is cool, you can really see the difference in fitness day by day, keep on going!
