.... but day 2 is nearly done. Using a patch & lozenges. Both make it quite painless for me anyway, for now. Day 3 tomorrow, hour by hour :D

Thank you Maria,

I hope your quit is still going well and you are feeling strong about it as well you should. Just taking it moment by moment. Thought with the new job (where I can smoke) unlike my other would make it harder. That and the LONG periods of time when I can't do anything which is boring & frustrates me greatly and I would punctuate with a ciggie in the morning & afternoon. Have managed to get through it both days and have not dropped dead

Lol, will get there eventually.

Yes Gaynor I'm doing fine 11 weeks and 2 days longest quit for years.

The longest was a year about 20 years ago and then went back on a new years eve, every body drinking and smoking, and I thought I'll have one! big mistake, I can't do just one like a lot of people. That one turned into 20 a day, if only I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have had one.

I find it easier in work because we have to walk yards out of the building so it doesn't bother me, at home it did because it was my reward with a cuppa after chores relaxing etc. But that has gone now and I don't want one. There are still times when I think about it but not crave, can't stand the smell as some of the others say.

Take one day one hour at a time and don't forget you are not giving up anything you are getting back your freedom.

I wish you well and good luck.

Good for you Boo. When I have not been smoking, even after 2 days, it surprises me how much calmer I feel about things. The pressure of thinking about when can I have that next fag is gone for starters. I can smoke in my new job so used to go about 11 in the morning and between 3 and 4.30 in the afternoon. Due to boredom I was worried how I would get through that but it has not been a problem the last 2 days at least lol. Just going to take it one step at a time.

You just keepon going the way you are, we are all there with you :D

Good for you Maria :D

My longest quit was 2 years, 15 years ago so know where you are coming from. It's always just the one that turns into a full blown smoking habit again. I bought many a pack of ten, smoking a half, one two etc. Throwing the rest of the pack out after each one. How stupid was I?

Anyway, we are where we are now if that makes sense. We are going for it now and with some will power, strength & support I am sure we will get there.

Hey up Gaynor, day threefor me too.

Set myself a goal of a month smokefree (not even thinking past that) which has got to be a month virtually drink free too, to stand any chance of success!

I won't even let myself feel allowed to smoke at all in this month, not going to entertain the possibility.

I find with the patches it's quite easy now, craving wise, and I've got used to "notsmoking" in situations.

THINKTHE key is to find what makes us go back. For me, It's wanting that "high" i guess,or escape not that there is one really.

Hey Jude, (see what I did there ;) )

Good for you hun. Glad you are having another bash as well. The patches certainly help kill any cravings. I found today a bit harder as I didn't feel well and the working day just seemed to go on FOREVER. Boredom and the need for a sleep was making me feel like going for a ciggle to releive it as I would normally have done. Didn't though :D

Setting yourself small targets is good I think, easier to achieve in your head than the NEVER. I am sure when your month is up you won't even want to go back to smoking and will be setting your sights on the next month.

Wishing you all the best Jude xxx

Great to hear Gaynor .. these are the moments where we realize the concept of MIND OVER BODY ... when there is an upset and we still don't give in even the body is screaming for it ... I am still amazed i am in my 4th week and I still going strong ... I really did set my mind to success this time .... and am determined to fight the addiction.. soon you will see the month coming as well Gaynor ... I am sure ...

Best

Chris Thank you Fitwith40,

Another day underway and still going ok despite an upset yesterday
