Hi Kay, as far as weight is concerned, i'm nearly a stone heavier and have decided that I do now have to stop eating everything! Went away this weekend and was just about able to pour myself into my wetsuit, and it wasn't a pretty sight before
I'd still rather be a stone heavier and not smoking though, I haven't felt as good about myself for a long time so i'm not going to get p***ed off with it, i'll just stop eating the contents of the fridge whenever I walk past!
Congrats on the 7 months, you must be well chuffed
Well I must be honest and say that I put $%LB in the first 2 weeks and was gobsmacked, I have managed to lose 8LB of it so doing ok I think problem is I am going on what I weighed last june and I think now that I had probably put some on before the quit, so I am having too work twice as hard now to stay quit and to get slimmmer and to stop eating everything that ends up in my hand, its realy wierd that for the first time in my life ever I am haveing to watch my weight Scary or what and I dont like it one little tiny bit, who else thinks that the majority of people who smoke or did smoke are slimmer by nature or choice.
I put on 15/16lbs but have now started to loose some. Eating has settled down (as has the replacement guzzling of wine :rolleyes and nibbling on fruit and raw veg and plenty of new and increased exercise is working a treat.
You've lost shed loads before and in a very sensible way..... I have all confidence that you'll do it again now your quit is strong and hopefully, becoming secondary to all that life comes with
I dont weight myself tbh..every so often at my mums .....i know ive put some weight on just by looking at myself & my clothes feel a bit tighter ..dont wanna start getting obssesed wiv weight just yet.....my quit is still list topper atm ...xx
I was probably a stone heavier than ideal before quitting and in the 8 1/2 weeks since I quit another stone has piled on
I have just joined a gym (with the money saved from not smoking) and now going to weightwatchers - I did WW after I had both my kids to lose the baby weight and I really recommend it, it's easy to follow and you can still have little treats (like alcohol:D)
But I am really p&^%$d off about the weight - especially with summer coming, apparently! Trouble is when I have dieted before I have always smoked when I have been hungry, so this will be another hurdle to overcome, but I'm quite looking forward to the challenge in a perverse sort of way!
I know how weight can affect the way you feel about yourself, but I keep telling myself what a big step I have taken by stopping smoking, and that I had to try and concentrate all my efforts in doing that first - if you know what I mean x
Golly, I never weigh myself but have put on two-verging on 3 dress sizes, and gone up from a 10 to a big 14. I'm the biggest ever . The appetite thing is easing a little at 6 months, as is the substitute wine drinking i agree with Pol there!
I am attempting more exercise and aim to get back to a 12 at least. Find the weight gain hard, and am not comfortable this size.
Found an interesting link about this-was well aware of the appetite suppressant, metabolism boosting effect, but did anyone know that in a heavy smoker ,smoking burns 200 cals per day?
I am with you, as I also have gained 2 stone, I have never felt so hungry continually since I quit,.
I went bak to slimming world last week and weighed in (havent attended for weeks) and was really appalled at how much I have gained. Never mind it is my fault as I now I kept eating all the wroong things but needed something instead of my cigs.
Am back on the slimming world programme now and already feel better in my head, my neice is getting married in 5 weeks time so need to make a big attempt at weight loss by then.
Dont worry Kay, we have done one fabtastic thing in quitting, so we can do the other one, losing weight will be easy in comparison.
