How much of your life have you saved?

Some of the quit meters include a "life saved" bit (mine says just over 7 days), but that's not what I am interested in. I am interested in how much actual time you have not spent smoking during your quit....

For me a smoke would take 10 minutes (roll and smoke) during which time I would do nothing else as I would stand outside to have it. So that was 10 minutes of my life doing nothing.

My quit meter says I've not smoked 2062 fags as of this moment - it's based on 20 per day (I suspect I averaged more than that).

so... 2062 x 10 = 20620 minutes.

20620 / 60 = 344 hours

344 / 24 = 14.3 days.

So 2 whole weeks I would've spent doing nothing but smoking.

Based on your calculations, except that I always smoked taylors rather than home rolled so I have amended the calculation to more like 5 minutes per fag, and made some adjustments to emable a simple calculation:

156 fags not smoked

156 x 5 = 780 minutes

780 / 60 = 13 hours

So I have regained half a day in a week. Thats quite something!

Just working it out with fresh numbers....

2902 fags not smoked...

29020 minutes /60 = 483 hours and 40 minutes

= 2 weeks, 6 days, 1 hour and 40 minutes of my life not wasted smoking.

That's almost another week I've had to do stuff since I started this thread on Xmas eve

Hi Stuart

My meter says life saved 6 days 21 hrs 10mins

says I have not smoked 1982 fags so I make that

13.76 I have not spent smoking think I got that right using your way of working out I set my meter for 25 a day as sometimes smoked more than 20 a day

This is my meter reading

quit for 2 Months, 2 Weeks, 3 Days, 7 hours, 51 minutes and 7 seconds

quit for 79 days

saved £543.38 by not smoking 1,983 cigarettes.

I have saved 6 Days, 21 hours and 15 minutes of my life.

My Quit Date: 17/11/08

Can you work it out for me and let me know if i am right figures look weird to me but me and figures do not like each other

Blimey -I have quit for 31 days (1 month wayhay!) and therefore not smoked 248 cigarettes.

I used to take about 6 mins over a ciggie so I have saved an incredible 24 hours - 1 WHOLE DAY!

I'm amazed at that - no wonder my house is clean and the ironing is all done!

4.8 days!!!

Omigod - that's mad!

I calculated 10 minutes per fag cause of the time it used to take me at work to go out of our building (through five security doors) and down the car park to the smoking shelter. And I used to smoke superkings - so even sitting on my lazy backside at home they took a bit longer than normal fags to smoke...
