YOU are in week 2... you have overcome the horrid physical (day 3-4) cravings.... and that is AWESOME.... I am now on day 16 and can assure you that it gets a lot easier by this point... I know everyone wonders.... and hopes that the cravings will go away.... wondering how they will feel.... and the thought that it gets easier keeps us going.... well I will NOT lie to you just to keep you hanging on ... it REALLY does get easier.... I have zero physical cravings and most often (90%) of the time when I think of smoking I do not see myself smoking... rather just the thought which disappears after a few seconds. I still get (1-2) urges (not cravings per se) per day, but they are fairly weak and can be overcome... I can even do some of the things that I associated with smoking.. like morning coffee... with impunity, id est... I do not make the connection between it and smoking anymore... It is once again... just coffee......
YOU are in week 2 and NOT 2 WEAK... so hang on....

That is such a great, positive post cos it really is what we all want to hear. On the whole, I haven't found it too bad so far (day 11) but there are sometimes when I panic about the future - I think, how will I cope when I go on holiday without smoking, or when I take my horse to a competition - I need a ciggie for my nerves!
It's times like then when I feel a bit down but I just hope that the urges to smoke will continue to get fewer and fewer.
Thanks again - and well done you for getting through it so well!
Cool Steve! Thanks for that....I look forward to next week even more..
Jerry-lee, I dread going on holiday, I loooove lying in the sun with a cigarette, a good book and a glass of wine, should be using the past tense here! I loved doing the above! I have no idea how to replace it when on holiday, hopefully by that time smoking will be a distant memory.... I'll end on a positive, maybe we should start visualising ourselves on holiday in the sun as non-smokers???
Week 2 for me as well - I can't believe I have got here! It has not been that difficult and I am wondering whether I am in for a fall. Got a bit of a cough now but not that horrible first thing in the morning one.
Cough not as bad but not liking that gagging feeling first thing on a morning when your body wants to dispose of the next load of smoking caused gloop:eek:

A great post from Steve and SOOOO TRUEEEE>
Almost all of us who are further on have said almost the exact same thing, that it does get easier, that it is NOT a CRAVING but a slight URGE to smoke and that it is very easy to overcome.
Hang in there because you too will have this wonderfull feeling in the not too distant future.
As for holidays......... i too didnt know how i would cope without a ciggie whilst lying in the sun with a good book. By the time i went on holiday i didnt need a ciggie with my book and rarely thought about it...and when i did think about it i realised that actually i didnt want or need a ciggie.
Other Positive points about not smoking going on holiday are not worrying how i am going to cope without a ciggie in the airport and on the flight, (between 6-10 hours without one OMG!"!!!!:D) And "having" to have one when we landed, sod the kids, the O.H., the luggage etc, just let me have a ciggie....Not any more
I have been traipsing round the shops for about 3 weeks trying to get one and finally I was able to order one on line from that shop that starts with T and ends with OS and sells food lol. (Not sure if you are allowed to say it on here)
At this rate I'll be in the ground before I get to week 3.
I have decided to spend some of the money I am saving on a Wii Fit. I haven't been able to get one either unless you buy a bundle with games that cost over £100! I just want the Wii Fit - I've got a Wii.
Then I think I could go for a run round the village - that won't cost me anything!
