Day 33 and no temptation to smoke and i have had to face a few stressful events so I am proud that i managed to get through them without reaching for a packet.
I am suffering from a few symptoms though. One is tiredness...I am sooo tired. This has been going on for a few weeks now. One reason is i keep on waking up really early in the morning with really bad heart burn. This is happening every night, and is quite painful. Has anyone else noticed this symptom? Its more annoying than anything, as it is waking me up which leads to me being knackered. I just hope this is temporary.
Another symptom is the lack of tolerance to caffeine and alchohol. One pint or one cup of coffee sends me spinning! Cheap date that i would be, it makes a night out or a coffee at work an altogether different experience.
I am knocking both these on the head for the time being, although not having caffeine in the morning after a terrible night sleep is not great!

Sorry you're suffering knight - but at least you have got the cravings licked!!
I too have been suffering from lack of sleep. I drop off as normal but wake up stupidly early - normally about 5:00 am. Today was 3:30 am Lack of sleep doesn't help my mood much either!!!
I was one of those annoying quitters that sailed through the first week with no problems at all. Slowly though, all the usual symptoms seem to be attacking me now. Ulcers, sleep-loss, excessive crankiness!!! I am now 25 days without a fag.
I take heart from the fact that posters who are further down the road than me say all this will pass. I'm keeping the faith!!!

hi hun. im on 5 weeks and 2 days. i dont really get heartburn - i never have suffered with that but as for as the tolerence thing i completely know what you mean!!!! i had 4 cans of lager the other night and couldnt stand up!!!!!! this is a girl who's used to downing a bottle vodka on a night out!!!!!!
i have no idea why this is but like you say, cheap date, eh?
i sleep ok if i take my patch off but if i leave my patch on overnight then i dont really get properly to sleep at all.
Seems lack of sleep is a common symptom. Maybe heart burn is just one of the 'maybe' symptoms.
Anyway, i went cold turkey. I did try zyban before new year but had a serious allergic reaction to that, so decided to try without using any NRT.
I am supposed to be hitting the town tonight, so i think Shandys are in order else I will turn into a mess! I had one pint last night on my way home from work and I really should not of driven, scary stuff!
Good luck to you too! Just be careful out and about tonight - not just the drinking but also a lot of people get really tempted when they are on the town. It's a habit thing I think....
I am on day 24 and I do get heartburn but I think it may be related to Champix. It is not constant and only happens about 2 hours after I take a tablet but it is not major and not too uncomfortable. On the alcohol front - I am suffering from the opposite (we should swap!)- alcohol doesn't do anything for me anymore. I have gone off beer completely and wine/spirits do not even get me merry – a danger as I found myself having a lot more than my recommended weekly units by gulping down a LOT more than I should, and yet felt stone cold sober. So I have not really drunk much in the past couple of weeks as a result. I think this may be a Champix effect as I read that it was studied for alcohol dependency but I am not sure.
Liquid Gaviscon (although tasting disgusting) is a great heartburn remedy. I’d take it before you go to sleep and when you feel the first pains.

I have had exactly the same problems. You hear that the physical symptoms only last a week or so but it depends on the person. My WORST week was last week, I found myself to be irratable, depressed and could not get a good nights sleep. I get heartburn too but that is easing right off now.
Listen - it is hard to stay a quitter, it hits you in every way possible and feels like a constant nightmare but by looking at the positives, it all seems worth while.
Last week I ran (proper sprinted) for about 1/2 mile. Although I was out of breath and my pulse felt like it was going to explode, it made me feel great and I recovered within a minute (before new year I would be out of action for an hour). I'm becoming.....healthy.
I think half the challenge is not to succomb to these 'ill' symptoms.
Its strange though. I really really do not want to smoke. I have been merry many times when out on the town, and not even tempted and that is hanging out with smokers too. All I want is to feel healthy and have some energy which at the moment, feels a long way off!
