Day 3 for me and feeling fine... Had a few minor craves today but nothing i couldnt handle...
Just wanted to know how those with partners that are still smoking are managing??? My hubby smokes which makes a quit that much more trickier for me... as I sit here typing I can see his packet of smokes and lighter outside on the table and its just takes determination and will power to stop myself from taking a few steps and lighting a smoke...I have absolutely no desire to smoke as im 110% committed to my quit... but the thought has crossed my mind a few times today... My last quit lasted for 3 weeks and it ended because my hubby had left his smokes in my view (like he has today :mad and it wasnt like I just saw the smokes and had to have one, I tortured myself for about 3 hours thinking 'should i, shouldnt i, i'll just have one (which we all know is crap!)...I was so dissapointed in myself but like a bloody idiot i continued to smoke and that was 2 months ago...so here i am again - day 3 and moving along like stream train

That must be the hardest, quitting when your man still smoke. My ex and i gave up at the same time, he started again and i couldn't resist.
I ended up dumping him and now i have quit once again!
He maybe doens't realise how hard it is for you, tell him if he leaves his cigs lying around in your reach then your going to put them in a bucket of water for your own sake!!
Ah! but you have learned an important lesson havnt you? you know what got to you last time so you wont give in so easly this time. WILL YOU ? ha no its true its all down to mental atitude and experience. good luck and stay strong. x
dossydo - Definatley wont be giving in this time... but will need to have a talking to my hubby... Because ive failed at so many quits, i really dont think he takes this quit seriously:confused: He asked me if I wanted a smoke last night - what the??? and then tonight I went to the bottle shop to get him some wine and while I was there, he called me on my mobile to ask me to get him a pack of smokes:confused:
Well done on resisting. Youre right Anything can be accomplished with the use of willpower and determination - even quitting cigs. Like you found out you can't just have one cos that sets the whole cycle off again and pretty soon you are back to ful time smoking and hating yourself for it. Maybe you could ask your hubby to keep his cigs away from you until you feel confident you won't be tempted? Take care sweetie.
my wife is a smoker and so far it hasnt been a problem for me. if she is smoking around me it makes me not want any that much more. probably because i just cant stand second hand smoke. even when i was smoking, i loved to smoke but couldnt stand the second hand. im sure if i had quit cold turkey then it would be a huge problem being around her and having cigs within reach. for me the patch is working nicely, my brain is happy because its getting its nic fix and my lungs are happy because im not destroying them with toxic chemicals. im actually enjoying this situation more than smoking itself. everyone has their individual demons to work out to beat this *hit and hopfully you can find the right formula to overcome yours. congradulations on your quit.
