Still going strong in Week 3 - day 16

So, I am 2 days into week 3 now and I am ok. I haven't really had many cravings that I can remember, although I have found a couple of side effects.

I am biting my nails a bit now, which I worry about because I might scratch my baby with them, so I have to round them off every night. I will get through the nail biting stage but I am concentrating on the not-smoking at the moment - haha.

I also notice that I have got my mouth ulcers back and they aren't shifting as fast as they usually would. I wonder if this is due to me chewing gum and eating mints, or if it's purely my mouth getting used to the lack of nicotine?

Either way, I am still going strong and have every intention of never smoking again.

My wife is thrilled and a few friends are noticably shocked (pleasantly) when we tell them I have quit - what a great reaction.

My baby is happy and healthy, I think she appreciates that Daddy doesn't smell of cigs anY more too.

Tony

P.S. the title should say going into day 16, cos today is my 15th day.

Good work Tony :)

Not sure about the ulcers I'm afraid.

Well done on getting to day 16 and your very positive attitude. I'm sure I read somewhere that some people get mouth ulcers when they stop smoking because you need to adjust to the lack of chemicals. I'm sure somebody will be along who can explain it better than me. I'm not sure what to suggest about the nail biting. My friend gave me a "tangle toy", i think they cost a few pounds and she uses them as she teaches children who have learning difficulties. I think you can get them off Amazon or EBay.

Hi Tony,

What you need is a pair of mttens! That'd do the trick. You could always pinch your baby's mittens (bet she has some ;)).

Sorry. Seriously, you're doing fantastically well and no wonder your wife is over the moon. She must be so proud of her squeaky-clean, nicotine-free man. I bet every time you look at your gorgeous daughter you feel a sense of achievement too don't you? She'll always know you as her non-smoking daddy. :)

Nice one tony and if nail biting is the main side effect i'd take it..... I'll swap you for continuous farts, bleeding gums and anxiety and bloating :D ;)

Are these your current side effects even after nearly 3 months of quitting? Seems extreme. I have read that you may notice that your gums will bleed more when you quit for a little while, this is mainly due to the circulation to your gums improving drastically after you quit. Bloating / anxiety are probably the most common side effects I guess. Not sure about the continuous farts though...I haven't heard that one before.

Not what you're looking for?
