champix side effects

Hi,

I started Champix around the end of October and quit smoking November 5. Initially, I had only few side effects feeling a little loopy but that went away but for the last week or so I have been feeling really bad. I have very little tolerance and am sometimes quite angry and very emotional.

Has anyone else experiencd this?

Hi AJA,

If you do a search you will see a thread I started on this subject (exactly the same title!) I felt awful at first on it so cut back to 0.5mg twice daily - this helped a lot, felt almost human!! I have been taking champix since 8 September, and am now nearing the end, in that time I have had some awful side effects which as I say improved a lot when I cut back on the dose. I have suffered nasty outbreaks of mouth ulcers and sores that last a couple of weeks, make talking and eating bloody impossible then they clear up for a couple of weeks and return again with a vengeance. My doc thinks this is due to the champix, but tested me for everything yesterday just to make sure!

Also my family would definately say I was more aggressive than usual!!!

So far i have been fine ish. (on my third week taking them).. no serious problems except at the moment can't get to sleep hence here at half ten lol,

my family think i'm a little short tempered . (is that the giving up or tiredness) I think that we should not forget we are STOPPING SMOKING with all the other side effects that gives. both physical and mental Champix is not "A MIRACLE CURE" by any means.

WILL POWER is still required

It helps to know that others have felt these side effects - well my family, friends and coworkers may not benefit from this but I have- and hopefully they will pass before I completely loose it.

Fortunately I did not get the physical symptoms like the ulcers. I hope they are clearing up for you Ana.

I have signed myself up for a running clinic (half marathon) and hopefully this will help me stay on track.

Hi aja and welcome

I've been taking champix since the last week of Sep and have been quit just over 7 wks. Athough I never experienced Nausea (which people told me to expect)I developed nasty indigestion it manifested as a sort of "lump feeling" in my throat although I could still swallow normally and it wasn't sore or anything. I did however feel a bit emotional at times athough apparently this could have easily been caused by nicotine withdrawl itself. Bottom line,aja is that this is a relatively a 'new kid on the bock' and I don't think every side effect is known yet.

wow AJA good luck to your running ... strangely enough i have been thinking of getting back into sport etc. (always been too scared of wasting valuable smoking time lol ) plus my fags would get wet.

as a "one week well done" pressie my family chipped in and gave me a voucher for a local surf shop to rent a board and wet suit.

God i havent been surfing for years.

champix side effects

AJA- I post on another quit smoking forum dedicated to champix and quite a few there have had the anger problem with the champix. Some have found cutting down the dose helps, others have had their partners begging them to start smoking again.. . . . .

Hope you find that cutting down helps and that maybe with time emotions etc will even out.

I'm still finding I say the wrong word-yesterday I got some petrol, paid for it and asked for a 'result'????? I meant a receipt!!! Oh dear, crackin up!
