I have been on this forum for quite a while (since late feb) but only this morning found how to start a new thread......silly me
Anyway, I know there is lots of information about champix but i'm wondering if anyone is on it at the moment and how they are feeling?
I started taking champix on the 21st feb and stopped smoking officially on the 6th March which I'm very pleased with but now, especially this week I'm starting to feel extremely whacked by them. I started to drop down to one a day (morning) and this was fine but on Sunday I didnt take one as I knew I'd be having a few drinks - and then I forgot my tablets yesterday. By last night I think I was going through some sort of withdrawls....has anyone else ever felt this? I was shivery and sleepy and I couldnt concentrate!

I used champix, but I stopped taking them in december. Like you, I kept on forgetting them and in the end I thought that if I could manage without the champix and I wasn't craving fags too badly, then it was ok to stop them. I don't remember any particular withdrawal symptoms, but I think the tiredness happens to most people however they give up.
The nicotene is well and truly out of your system now, so you've just got to work out whether or not you want to keep on taking the tablets, or if you're strong enough now to go it alone.
Congrats. I too am (was) a Champix user. My recommendation is that you try and stay on 1 tablet per day for a while longer. I also went down to one tablet and then stopped altogether. Altho I did not think that it helped all that much with craves, it was still a much needed emotional crutch. Keep at it a few more weeks if you can.
hi Sinead, I started with a sore throat yesterday and gargled with a bit of water and dispersible aspirin ,to my surprise it worked .i usually have to take antibiotics for anything like that. I also wake up feeling like iv smoked napalm all night. Does anyone else keep falling asleep ? Maybe its a healing thing, its just a bit of a nuisance when im working or somewhere where sleeping is just not the done thing.
Feeling a little better today but isnt it amazing how we're all going through similar symptons. You may of hit the nail on the head when you say its a healing thing......hurry up and heal!
I'm relatively ok during the day but as soon as I get home....well, dont be looking any favours or I just might chew your head off:eek:
Thanks for the gargling tip though - kinda ok today....every day is different!!!
I started with the champix on the 7th March, I felt knackered by the end of the first week so only took one a day in the second week, I haven't had any tablets for two days and still feel sleepy, other than that okay. Cravings are worse in the evening but so far I have been able to stay strong with the help of this forum, I jusy pmsl at all the antics - mad and it keeps me off the cigs.

Hi Rachel
How long were you taking the Champix for? I got to say, as much as I am not having any side effects, except a waking up 1 - 2 times per night for about 10 mins, I really want to kick the smoking and get off the Champix as soon as. I have not been smoking for 10 days now and it's definatley doing what the packet says, but would like to get off Champix on week 6, what do you think?
I'm on my 31st day of Champix and 22nd day of not smoking. For the past week I've been cutting the tablets in half, and taking one half with breakfast and the other half with dinner. Works for me!
