Deep breath...

I don't know whether to class myself as day one or day two. I smoked my last cigarette at 7am yesterday, on day 6 of Champix.

I am finding that drinking water out of a sports bottle helps a bit. I am eating so much as well, but trying to stay off the chocolate!

I am getting a dry mouth and headaches, but not too bad.

Feeling quite proud of myself - I have been smoking for nearly 20 years

Looking forward to your suggestions to stop these cravings tho!

Hello Clare, welcome to the site!! Congrats on making the best decision ever, to quit smoking :D

Many people here used or are using champix they'll sure share their experiences with you, as for the cravings, oh hun why don't you just enjoy the chocolate at least for a while, the chocolate is teh magic :D I also sometimes chew liquorice sticks, it's calming and relaxing, I really love the taste, it's also a very relaxing thing to do and I suspect my mind enjoys the whole sucking-a-stick thing ;)

Hi clare and W E L C O M E

You've made an excellent decision and the champix? well I rate it up there with red wine!!! Seriously I smoked for 25yrs tried to quit umpteen tmes(patches, gum, hypnotherapy even Zyban (Lets not go there!) and I really thought that nothing would ever make me quit - then my nursey got me on champix and I have never looked back. Its true it isn't a 'magic pill' you still got to have willpower & determination - Just not as much! Stay Strong!img126.exs.cx/img126/997/36...

Thank you all for your encouragement. It has now been 38 hours since I last smoked. God I am so annoying at the moment because I keep taking really deep breaths every now and then. I don't know why - but say it is because I have more room in my lungs.

Roll on the time when I can sit in a nice wine bar, with a huge glass, sat on a comfy sofa and not think about going outside in the cold and wet to look like an outcast with a fag in my hand :o

Great Clare

I think i am a few hours ahead of you i gave up at midnight Monday night so that would be Tuesday morning, i am on patches and microtabs NRT, and they help.

This forum really really helps as it keeps me going at bad times, i feel good this evening but had a real bad day.

Each day is a milestone but i am finding it easier as each hour passes.

Keep going i will watch your progress with interest.

Thanks - I think I saw a link somewhere for putting in the day you stopped smoking, and it worked out how much you had saved etc.

Where can I find this? It may encourage me a bit more :)
