After starting smoking late in life and smoking for too many years I have decided to stop. I stumbled across this forum and have been visiting it for the last few days.
I quit at 7.00am on Friday 17th August 2007 and am going cold turkey. My signature has a link to my counting summary of time since quiting and the savings.
I haven't tried to quit before and this is my first, and last, time at quiting as I am not going to start smoking again. I am eating a bit more but I am going to buy a lot of fruit to eat. At the moment it is chocolate. I am sleeping really well but am having waves of nicotine cravings which pass quickly. I have had a lot of light headedness and my consentration is shot.
Errrr. That's about it.

I am quiting by saying "I don't smoke anymore" Nothing more. Some things help and somethings don't. On Friday when I was a few hours in, I got into a lift a work with one of the smoking crew I used to have a ciggie with. The smell of old fags was bad and I felt a bit self righteous. Right now I have had a few beers and just went to the kitchen as I would have done in the old days to get a ciggie. The wife smokes and we never smoke in the house so normally pick a ciggie up in the kitchen and then into the garden. I just went into the garden without a ciggie.
Hi Buffy,
We all need a bit of support sometimes and sometimes we can support others.
I was on 20 a day normally and up to 40 a day if I went to the pub. I must have stunk
Buffy,
I have found that If I look at how long I have gone without ciggies on my sig it pushes me on. I could offer to add people to my sig page If anyone want me to?
I was thinking maybe your wife might be tempted to quit with you if you tell her about the competition on the home page of the forum for quitting with another person - you can win £6000 of holiday vouchers!!! Cor that would be brill - it could be 3- 4 weeks in Hawaii or 12 months in a tent at Blackpool HOORAY!!!
Keep checking in - we all keep each other going with laughs, tears and fun.

Happy anniversary Poppyfairy. Lets race each other to non smoking oblivion. Blackpool sounds good. Check out the Wyre Hotel (it is a pub only) on the way to Thorton Cleveleys. I have a tent
