The ketogenic diet as part of treating NHL: anyone here has experiences with this ?

I am very interested in the approach of cancer as a metabolic disease instead of a genetic one (ref. Dr Thomas Seyfried). He advocates, as part of treatment, to use a ketogenic diet, which helps to 'starve' the glucose and glutamine levels in ones body: the very fuel cancer cells is feeding on.

It would be very helpful to hear from others who might have gone this route as I will have a consult his week about my NHL being active again (after 6 years) and the treatment they most likely will offer me is another chemotherapy, which I feel I can't do anymore. Thanks!!!

Hi, noted your post. I have B Cell NHL , diagnosed 3 years ago and was weeks away from chemo. Was told about Keto, reviewed it did some of it, only I dropped all meat from it, also cut out cheese and all sugars. I also found out that your system ph plays a big part in cancer. My ph was below 6, I went on an alkaline diet mixed with keto, I use green barley grass as a corner stone of my diet, system ph went up, I also use tumeric and cbd oil. With-in 4 weeks and a scan before chemo the doctor reported that my lymph nodes had went down, significantly, the large one on my groin halved in size and they put me on watch and wait. I go in for a 3 year scan as a base line, some small nodes have appeared but my bloods have been good for the 3 years. I recommend book chris wark, How I beat cancer, I have used lots of his recommendation. I know that one day I may have to get treatment, however with immunotherapy progress it may not be chemo and one day in near future it may be curable. I discounted nothing, did my own research. Look up green barley grass...it worked for me.

Thanks for your reply Doularg9. Certainly lettng go of all sugars as cancer cells feed on glucose, and the glutamine that the body produces. Will look into the ph and alkaline diet.

Well I am wondering how you did get your proteins as you skipped the meat? Supplements? I really feel better when so now and then eat some chicken or white fish.

I do take supplements and eat fish, I also make shakes and add goats whey for protein, also used green protein. Mix in Barley grass, some fruit to make palatable.

I have not eaten meat, fish or eggs since 1967. No shortage of protein if you eat mung beans, and other beans, some nuts, soy products, and some dairy, bit not too much. We buy organic milk and make our own cheese and yogurt.

That is all great advise. I was advised similarly in 2008 by a friend who had undergone every treatment imaginable for NHL. He told me to get my body ALKALINE at once. He told me to not eat anything that became sugar in digestion. I did it strictly for two years. I drank 100 grams of fresh wheat grass juice daily. And I took lots of Vitamin C, Alfalfa, etc.

Today, I would get immediately massive IV Vitamin C and Ozone regularly.

I read Chris book too after my sister recommended it.
