Unsure of results and for kidney nuclear scan

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and have no idea where to begin. In 2014 I had a total abdominal hysterectomy and have been on hrt since. In that last 12 months however I have suffered with recurrent UTIs, 1 round of kidney stones and a rather nasty kidney infection. I was born with a right pelvic kidney which is malrotated and smaller than my left kidney.

A recent nuclear scan showed this in my kidney with no obstruction thankfully. The results said that the left kidney did 31% of the work and my right did 69% of the work. I know nothing about kidney function but so I don't panic I presume that overall this means I have 100% function?

Any help is appreciated!!

    THANKS EVERY BODY

  • GO ON LINE- ASK FOR INFO TO CONTROL GFR AND CREATININE- WILL GIVE LISTS OF FOODS HIGH IN EACH FOOD CONTAINING POTASSIUM AND PHOSPHORUS WHICH CAN EFFECT BOTH. ALSO KEEP PROTEIN TO 40g PER DAY- AND DRINK WATER- 60 OUNCES PER DAY. CANT CURE CKD- CAN CONTROL PROGRESS. TRUST GOD- ONLY TRUE ANSWER.

  • sounds a strange way to put it to you they usually work out total function with blood tests! people can live just as well with 1 kidney & function drops with age anyway, i hope they manage to keep the infections at bay as that is damaging to the kidneys x

  • I thought that but all my letter said was that my left function was 69% and right was 31%! No further explanation so obviously I've been worrying x

  • yes i can understand the worry i think on the whole it sounds good ask your gp make an appointment it will put your mind at rest x
