Thick blood!

Has anyone else had or have thick blood since their transplant? My blood is so thick that nurses have a hard time getting it out of me for labs. I was thinking of taking aspirin to thin it out on lab days. I did ask my doctor. He said he would get back to me after my current labs came back, but he didn’t. It can’t hurt, can it?

I don’t know. It’s not on my lab report.

It is on CBC which is a regular test.

and No, I would not take aspirin without the approval of your doctor.

Would recommend getting a second opinion from another doctor - maybe a heart specialist. I would think this is something I would not put off for an answer. Take care and keep us posted.

I would not take any blood thinner without the guidance of a doctor. Make sure there is not some kind of clotting disorder. Make an appointment with another doctor.

Eat lots of food with vitamin k, it makes ur blood thin. Eats green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale and green salads. Avoid red meats, they make your blood thick. Hope that helps. Good luck.

I take low-dose aspirin and fish oil everyday. Dr. recommend.

Usually low dosage aspirin is to protect against heart attacks or stroke. Think of it this way they thin the blood so it doesn't clot and if it does clot, it helps breaks the clot. Some studies showed that this is preventive while some showed it had no effect, but I still recommend taking it. Also fish oil had high HDL which helps takes fats from your blood vessels and depositing them outside leading to decreased chance of blockage
