Back surgery after transplant
Dear Flash5,
This is a 'Difficult' one, there are Many 'overlapping' factors. My honest Advice is to contact, your own 'Team', on this issue.
Sorry that I can't offer you, any more, advice Flash but this, really is, 'One For The Professionals.

I am two years past transplant and in that tune I’ve had an endoscopy, gall bladder removal, vitrectomy (eye surgery) Numerous UTI’s with one that landed me in the hospital for 6 days and on antibiotics for 16 days… talk to your team about your worries. I’m sure you will be fine!
Always talk to your nephrologist about your upcoming surgery. Now, the feeling is you don't necessarily need to be on antibiotics after your surgery. I take Myfortic (mycophenolate) and Neoral (cyclosporine). I am 21+ years post transplant and in that time have had an incisional hernia in my transplant incision repaired twice, gall bladder surgery (removed), entrapped nerves removed around transplant incision, and 3 surgeries on my L arm due to nerve problems where AV Graft was located.I had no problems with any of these surgeries or after. Most were even done as same day surgery. Make sure you ask questions of your nephrologist so you have a safe surgery. Remember we are all different
Best of luck!
