UTI's

Hi I'm new, I have a 5yr old daughter who had a renal Tx nearly 2 years ago now. For the past 10 months she has been in and out of hospital with UTI's. Each event following the same protocol of IV antibiotics followed by a course of oral antibiotics. I know each case is different but has anyone tried anything else eg herbal remedies which has had positive effects?

I recently had a very severe UTI with no symptoms other than a migraine which landed me in the hospital for 6 days. I am 22 months past my transplant. 6 days of IV fluids and antibiotics and 10 days of antibiotics when I was released. I recently lost 33 pounds watching my diet as this COVID stay at home had me snacking big time. My tacrolimus was adjusted to .5 in the am and .5 in the pm. Having labs done tomorrow to see where I am at. I wouldn’t take any herbs because it might interfere with the immunosuppressant meds. My number one priority is to stay healthy. And at times it’s challenging. Hang in there!

for the 1st year after my transplant, I had UTI that refused to go away for several months. Dr gave me several oral antibiotics that did not work. then tried few IV antibiotics, then switched to oral antibiotics(Nitrofurantoin) for 1 year, which solved the UTI. Dr gave above antibiotics based on sensitivity in urine culture

She's tried several antibiotics including Nitrofurantoin. They say that she has built up resistance to most of the antibiotics out there. She has just returned home (yesterday) after another bout. Seems like every 3-4 weeks for the past year we have been in the hospital with yet another UTI. We know the drill so well now that as soon as any symptoms appear we rush a urine sample down to the local hosp. They are wonderful and know her so well. However I fear that all these UTI's are not good for the kidney. Just wondered if there was some alternative treatment one could consider.

I'm sorry to hear your problems. I too had the similar problem for 1.5 years. I visit the hospital to place the IV venflon in hand, take the first IV dose in hospital, then the remaining dose in home itself. In the next urine culture, the last taken antibiotic will move from sensitive to resistant group. Doc said that eventually your immune system will identify the bacteria and kill it. I tried few herbals like ginger, garlic, pepper, turmeric, cloves, tulasi, karpuravalli, but I stopped because these herbals can interact and increase / decrease the Tacrolimus levels. I drank little extra water and visited the rest room frequently in the hope that the bacteria will be flushed out. Dr. may reduce the dosage of immuno drugs. what medicines she is taking?
