After a deep teeth cleaning has anyone required antibiotics or is it not necessary
Deep teeth cleaning : After a deep teeth... - Kidney Transplant
Deep teeth cleaning
I take amoxicillin 1 hour prior to a cleaning. Check with your nephrologist regarding dose. I have forgotten it in the past and taken it immediately after the cleaning.
It is necessary as others have already said 1000mg of amoxicillin 1 hour before the cleaning.
Every team is different. My team says not to take it for a deep cleaning. You can become resistant to the antibiotic. I used to take it, because my dentist said to. Now with my new dentist, and calling the team, they say it is not necessary. Ask your team.
I had a deep cleaning and didnt require an antibiotic and I was fine.
It used to be common that you take antibiotics before having your teeth cleaned if you have had a kidney transplant. I am 20 years post transplant. For me it was probably 10 years ago they said it was no longer necessary.
I had asked and was told it was not necessaary.
Yes my transplant team said it was a absolute must for me.
Absolutely necessary for me. I am 1.5 years post transplant.
I am required to take Amoxicillin as well. 1 hr before.
It was not needed after transplant but was required after a knee replacement. I didn’t take any for the first 8 years after my transplant. Check with your nephrologist.
I always get antibiotics to take before going to the dentist. It's to protect my kidney.
