Has anyone ever been told not to eat lemons or limit the amount you eat or put in your water or tea?
Lemons: Has anyone ever been told not to... - Kidney Transplant
Lemons
Who told you this, Doctor? Nephrologist?, maybe they saw something in your blood test which concerned them.
No one ever told me not to eat lemons, I was just asking because I was eating them and was just wandering if anyone had heard anything negative about them
I know that a lot of ckd patients drink alkaline water to help increase gfr and lower creatinine and I was wondering whether you were trying to alkalise the water in your tea or water.
No not really, I was told by my trainer that warm lemon water was good for helping me lose weight
Lemons are ok. Its the grapefruit we can’t eat. But to be safe, ask your doctors before. Maybe depending on bloodwork and all they may not recommande them.
Hello KidneyBham,
Lemons are high in Vitamin C ( 1 cup Juice = 187% RDA) vitamin C helps in absorption of Iron, This may cause increase in hemoglobin etc. ( In my case - I have a blood disorder excess hemoglobin as my EPO is high, but I do add a few drops of lemon Juice when making soups / baking fish.
I was told not to eat grapefruit or pomegranates as they can effect immune suppressant drug levels
I have never been told that we shouldn't eat lemons or limes. Some should not eat grapefruit or grapefruit juice because it can interfere with the effectiveness of some meds. If in doubt, always ask your nephrologist
