Just wondering how many here with a transplant have to use fluid pills from time to time
Fluid pills: Just wondering how many here... - Kidney Transplant
Fluid pills
I’m waiting on a transplant but my Dad and Uncle both had kidney transplants (my dad had 2) and I know he had to take Lasix ( furosemide) on and off for years - it seems to me there were several different reasons for it but I can’t remember them now.
I have had to take Lasix daily for the last 2 years. I am at 20 years post transplant. My doctor said that my new kidney is probably not concentrating urine like it should. My creatinine is stable at 0.9-1.0
To remove excess fluid? Never been a problem for me.
Lasix is used to create more urine output. It’s also given fir issues with the heart, liver and kidney. I am 11 months post transplant and am not on lasix. I just had my gall bladder removed and was out on magnesium and just started Vitamin D3. I am feeling great since the gall bladder removal. My GFR is 89 and creatinine is .69. Remember to watch your diet..

I would be, personally speaking, VERY careful with 'Fluid Pills'. IF they are Prescribed by a Doctor, who is, Familiar with the case- and it is deemed medically necessary- then OK. Otherwise...Take Care. Certainly DON'T, off your own 'Bat', start Diuretic Pills- actually, just Don't unless directed by a Doctor. Crudely, but effectively put....Why 'risk' f..king up, your new Kidney, on a whim?
Sorry to be, so Blunt, and Direct....but, you did, ask!

Yes I take fluid pills only when my legs and feet swell. I don’t need them any other time.
