I sometimes get ramps in my left hand where my hand locks up into a claw shape. That is the same side as my forearm fistula. It usually happens when I have been using it for a while, such as chopping vegetables.

I get that too and I believe mine is caused by holding my phone or Kindle too long. I also have a fistula in that arm but the cramping came first.
yup, I get it as well - never quite was able to pin point what triggers it but it is quite annoying when it happens.
This happens as the muscles deteriorate over time. Speak to your doctor about muscular atrophy and they might prescribe something for it. Since I have been quite sometime on dialysis, I do take 100 mg of Decaduroblin inj once a mnth to maintain strength and help me keep doing my walks and exercise for upkeep of my muscles.
Check your Magnesium Levels...I have found keeping those in range helps with the cramping
