Expecting Transplant

So I've (25m) just been added to the transplant list and am expecting a transplant very soon. They told me about 3 to 6 months. I've been on peritoneal dialysis for many years and this will be my 3rd transplant. Both ones previoulsy failed one due to infection and that's what I'm concerned about. I'm really scared of this new transplant because i'm afraid it will fail and i'll just have to go through another transplant for nothing. I'm also scared it will change my appearence like it did with my second transplant. When I had my second transplant my face became all puffy and I got bad acne. I also got a mrsa infection in my lip that makes the left part of my lip apper swollen. I'm scared of this because i haven't been dating while I was on dailysis and now that i'm older and expecting a transplant I want to find love. I'm just scared that things could be bad and could use some encourgement.

You are a true warrior. 3 transplants in you short life is a lot. But the freedom it offers is worth it,.

Just some dating advice....anyone who loves you will love you, the whole package. True love is not based on looks or health. You want a partner who will be there through thick and thin. My hubby and I totally support each other and I know I can rely on him. That's love.

Hi StormCl0ud!, don’t think about all what happened in the past, you are a beautiful person and that is what counts, love is in everything, in a person, in the things we do and specially in how we conquer any difficulty. Don’t give up, you need all your strength to go through surgery, you will get the gift of a lifetime, and I’m sure is for the best reason. Talk to your medical team, you already have the knowledge of what happened and can be prepared to avoid it or to smooth the effects this time. Focus being your healthiest version, meditate, talk to friends, the ones that are with you at all times, and love, love, love yourself!, love will find you, you’ll see, things happen for a reason and if you are here is for something great!, cheer up, we are all rooting for you!, every single time somebody gets a transplant is one more reason to keep our faith that it can happen to one of us or to one of our loved ones soon. Stay safe, we’ll leep you in our prayers! :)

Well do the best you can it's a shame that you've had a couple of them. Do you have PKD that's what my spouse has and yeah it's a real problem. He had some issues in the first couple of months of the first transplant he had and this is unfortunately actually pretty common. I am surprised that you can get a kidney as fast as you can I mean my spouse his first kidney failed after 15 years which is a pretty good length of time. He's back on the list but he has to wait 3 years at least before he qualifies for the kidney. Unless of course we get a live donor and so far that is not worked out everybody that is tried out for it has been shot down by the medical center for underlying causes. The 25 you're still pretty darn young so you've got a long life ahead of you as much as you want to get into the dating scene getting your health back together is more important.
