73 year old patient w/o transport to dialysis

I am a Care Navigator and a nurse I support has a client who is Stage 3, ESRD.

He doesn't have transportation to his dialysis.

Does anyone on this blog live in Shelton, Washington or near there?

I'm trying to find resources for him. We had $1,000 we were able to spend getting him to his dialysis for the past two weeks, but the funds are now gone.

I'm really trying to help him out.

Any ideas?

Have you checked into the American Kidney Fund? Other possibilities are checking with the dialysis social worker for transportation help. In Massachusetts they have vouchers for public transportation and services such as cabulance, senior buses and wheelchair vans that pick up and return patients to home.

Refer to clinic social worker as they have all the resources to fulfill this need.If he is stage 3 he wouldn't need dialysis. $1000 for transportation for 2 weeks is far more than expected for even 3 months unless he live far from the clinic, like an hour or more. If he is on Medicaid that will cover it, but I've never seen Medicare cover it. There are many programs that help with this so please defer to his clinic social worker for all resources available to him to help him. Blessings

Talk with the social worker at his dialysis center. Most places have some type of senior buses that can be used to get to dialysis. Most have special rates for low income seniors.
