I'm new to dialysis treatment and a little scared. But I happen to come across to a website called getting ready for a new normal. A guide for starting dialysis it's easy to understand and has questions you should ask. So if anyone else is new to starting dialysis like me please read this 66 pages I think you'll be glad you did. Again it's called Getting ready for a new normal A guide for starting dialysis. Oh I would like to say thank you for responses that I received.

Thanks for sharing this with us🐶 I, too, think I will be starting dialysis soon. I’ll try PD dialysis first.

To make matters more stressful I’ve had to suddenly shift nephrologist’s in the middle of all of this. I’ll be seeing my new nephrologist on Wed, Oct 14th. So in this first appointment I’ll need to talk about PD dialysis, surgical catheter placement, and the dialysis center where I’ll need to receive dialysis training and ongoing support. Oh, and I’m actively waitlisted for a deceased donor transplant so should mention that and the required monthly transplant labs.

Quite the initial appointment. No real time to get acquainted. Hope he’s up for all of this!

Let me know how your journey with dialysis goes. I’ll be making posts providing updates as I go through all of this too. They may be helpful for others who will be experiencing dialysis at some point in the future.

It will be great to see your journey unfold as you're doing it in a very thoughtful and methodical manner. (Ours was one wild ride.) Thank you for doing this!

Thank you for the information.I will be under going surgery next week(14th) for the removal of my remaining kidney, spleen & a small portion of my pancreas.I am terrified,if I make it thru the surgery it will be a major change for me.I know a lot of people live for years on dialysis & have found encouragement on Health unlocked.

Hi lovemesomeflowers! I just joined. I, too, will be having my remaining kidney removed in a few weeks. I share your feelings. You will make it through the surgery as we both will! I would enjoy continuing this conversation but don’t know the process yet. Please write back.
