Help! Do I have CKD?

Hi everyone! I am 26y old female and recently I found out that my right kidney is a bit smaller than the other -9.8cm (the left one is 11.7cm) and its located in my pelvis. Otherwise its structure looks normal on CT scan. The thing that frightens me the most is that my creatinine level is a bit high -1.07mg/dl which means that my gfr is around 72-78ml/min. No protein in urine... that could be classified as stage 2 ckd? What do you think? How much time it takes for this disease to progress to stage 3 etc? Should I be worried?

Below shows the five stages of CKD and GFR for each stage:

Stage 1 with normal or high GFR (GFR > 90 mL/min)

Stage 2 Mild CKD (GFR = 60-89 mL/min)

Stage 3A Moderate CKD (GFR = 45-59 mL/min)

Stage 3B Moderate CKD (GFR = 30-44 mL/min)

Stage 4 Severe CKD (GFR = 15-29 mL/min)

Stage 5 End Stage CKD (GFR <15 mL/min)

I have copied the information for you to review the stages. Yes, when I was at stage two CKD and was around 60 ml/min for many years, but everyone progression through the stages differs according to how well you are maintaining your blood pressure, weight and dietary requirements according to their lab values. I followed closely with my doctor during this time. Best of luck.

Make sure she never gets the catheter area wet. She can have a sponge bath instead of a shower or she can just shower her lower body using a handheld shower. Probably the best thing she can do to prevent infection is to get a fistula instead. She will need to use the catheter while the fistula heals and matures - usually several months. Have her talk to her nephrologist about this.
