Is it normal with my kidney failure to have a Very sharp stabbing pain in the back kidney area every now and then?

I Dont get them often but when i do its like someone stabbed me in the back and it makes me jolt and its gone just as fast as it came but sometimes happens a few times in a row

I’m sorry you have that pain! Both before and after my kidney failure I have the same problem. In my case I associate it with kidney stone gravel which can cause debilitating pain at times. I am using a low dose of Dilaudid tablets that help a lot.

Thank you, how would i know if this is the same thing I am experiencing? I have been told i have kidney stones before but never have felt them pass

Most forms of kidney disease do not cause pain. There is one I know that does hurt a lot, and that is a generic inherited form called PKD.
