Hi Kidney Warriors,

My name is Kiyana, I'm 39yrs old, turning 40 this August. I'm still trying to research, ask questions and wrap my head around this entire process. I actually start the Dialysis process on Monday at the hospital inserting the catheter in my chest. I'm told I have collapsing FSGS which is a rare genetic kidney disease, however this has not been confirmed. I've been referred to NIH for research studies while going to dialysis awaiting a transplant. I have no choice but to now except this is my new way of life. I had a few meltdowns because this happened so rapidly to me, yet I'm blessed and highly favored. I have to make a few adjustments but the show must go on! Its also comforting to know how much support is out here for kidney disease. Enough for now, I know we'll chat soon. Guess what! We will ALL be just fine!

Hi Kiyana my name is Tylene. I also qas diagnosed with FSGS in 2010 wih no reason behind it. I was immediately put on dialysis and was on it for over 4 years until I received a kidney December 31st 2015. So far my new kidney is doing great. I too know dialysis is very depressing and takes a toll on your body and the feeling od wanting to give up. My advice to you is stay strong and have Faith in God because he will make alright. Any info you need just ask. Take care of yourself always

If it is of any help, please take a look at my blog, especially the post about "overwhelmed". It wasn't until I encountered dialysis that I fully understoodthe true meaning of "overwhelmed". I hope your catheter surgery goes well. I had to have one for a few months while they repaired my fistula. It is massively inconvenient and a danger of getting infected. Be careful.
