Hi all! New here and was hoping for some info and hopefully reassurance.A couple of months ago after an adrenalectomy my eGFR went down from normal to 54.I have had very controlled high BP for a long time and after the surgery its went from controlled normal to about 95/70 .Feel great,no polyuria or headaches any more etc. After a month my GFR got tested and was down from 80-90ish to 54.A month later...same.I'm told its very common after adrenalectomy as once the tumor is gone, so is the hyperfilteration that masks any underlying kidney issues.Had a really awful, painful vein sampling procedure right before an awful, painful, surgery! Both with high contrast..of course. My GP wasn't terribly worried and tbh after following a new strict renal diet, excercise, and daily meditation neither was I. And a new Neph that I'm finally seeing in 4 days too.I need a blood panel prior though and unfortunately I've had insomnia for the past couple of weeks due to a stresser thats gone but my sleep is still out of wack. For example the night before last I slept 8 hours.Last night,3 or 4.And so on.Now I AM scared because I think its going to affect my labs and GFR badly after doomscrolling on insomnia/ kidney health on the internet.Sorry this was so looooong.Just trying to fill in all the pieces! Thanks in advance for anything to calm me down.
Insomnia: Hi all! New here and was hoping for... - Kidney Disease
Insomnia
Oh girl, you've been through quite a lot lately and it's no wonder you're stressed! As a PKD survivor I've been through quite a lot of stress with four years of hemodialysis and another four years post transplant. My favorite stress relievers are chair yoga and dance, especially the deep breathing you do with yoga and the exercise benefits it provides. Lately I've been watching Friesian horse videos with Yvonne and Maine coon kittens videos on YouTube. You can't help but get relaxed and even laugh with just those two. Now, let me reassure you that your kidney function numbers are not that bad. Your nephrologist can help you with the specifics on how your diet and some medications can help your particular condition. Try to think positive, that you are going to actively participate in your care and just breathe. Take care!
dont doomscroll....its enough to keep a zombie awake.find silly videos to watch and relax youre at a good number.
