I have recently had some routine blood tests done, and it showed that my urea is a little low (3 normal range 3.4-8) and my EGFR is a little low too (84 - normal range 90-999).
I have a phone call appointment with my GP to discuss all of the results, but I just wondered if anyone had any advice or suggestions of things I need to ask so I can get the most out of the appointment.
As an aside, I have metabolic liver disease diagnosed earlier this year and on three monthly B12 injections but my kidney tests have always been normal.
Ask for a better lab or another test…..it may just be me but your sense of urgency over a 7 % variation or 4 100ths. And 6 100ths of a decrease of these tests…these can vary from test to test up to +/- 30%… if you had CKD of any kind of severity that you needed to worry I’d be more understanding… another test another set of NORMAL (AT LEAST ALMOST NORMAL AND NO WORRIES LIKE MANY HERE….my eGFR 17…. Been as low as 13 others far worse and already undergoing the heinous and painful consequences that await us all at stage 5….
Simply another blood draw equals numbers that aren’t CKD like…or not and then come back with a real issue..
I’m sorry I’m not really a horses ass but when you have an eGFR of 17 sub-20 and lived with CKD stage 4 30 years it’s frustrating how many people seem to want a lifetime of illness and a potential early death, quarterly blood test, worrying every time you are sick/have surgery etc and then get my eGFR is not 90 but 84 should o worry get nephrologist have a real problem…trade you in a freaking heartbeat… my apologies just my pet-peeve!
