Hello 'hihi2316'
When your doctor first mentions CKD it can certainly feel scary. However at egfr 64 and 78, your kidneys have only just started to show signs. It now depends on how your CKD progresses.
You are in a good position to slow down any further deterioration.
Try to hunt out information about food that is good for your kidneys, exercise regularly, and drink plenty of water.
Information is key.
A good place to start is:

If you are in the uk: then contact Kidney Care UK on 08088010000.
Both have a wealth of information to help you find out more about the condition.
This can put you in charge of your health and help you on your journey.

First thing you should do is check out the NKF website kidney.org Learn as much as you can about your kidneys from this site. Even has info on a kidney friendly diet and recipes. Educate yourself - that is the key.
Are you diabetic? Has your doctor said what is going on, why you have CKD2?
Make sure you stay hydrated. Dehydration can stress your kidneys and even make your Creatinine and BUN rise
Oh my - no one wants to hear news like that! Luckily, it's in the early stages. Regarding diet, it's always good to eat wholesome, natural foods - fresh veggies, decent fruits, etc. Staying away from processed and manufactured foods, very common in western diets, is something everyone should do. But before you take action on diet, check your labs. Is anything flagged other than protein. Is sodium too high? Is your glucose too high? Are other things too high? And then check in with your doctor so s/he knows your concerns and can also check your labs and offer direction on diet, as well as monitor your progress so nothing goes off the rails. (Maybe s/he will also give you the underlying reason for your situation - the leading causes are diabetes and high blood but there are others as well.) Regarding your protein data. Please know that every cell in your body requires protein. Hence, protein should stay in the body, not leak out. So, white meats (not red meats), legumes, or other things might be advised to help prevent issues. Generally speaking, those diagnosed at the earlier stages of CKD don't need to make many changes, if any. It's great that you're being proactive. I'm sure that will make a big difference in your outcome.
Maybe inquire of your Doctor, for a CKD diet. The diet can be helpful for your kidneys.
In addition to National Kidney Foundation, Davita is another web site for Kidney Disease to give you some information on questions for your Doctor.
I got really confused and didnt know what to eat either when the doctor told me I got CKD, I lost extreme amount of weight because of that. which was not good at all, the doctor was not very helpful, didn't give me much information about what to eat. from my experience, you just need to eat less meat for now, protein intake should be 0.8 grams per kilogram of your ideal body weight. don't need to worry about pottasium and phosphorus for now, and sodium should be less than 1500 mg/day.
