Might help to do a search. Cleveland Clinic usually has very helpful information.

Echogenic kidneys can indicate various conditions, often related to chronic disease or scarring. Best to wait for your doctor's detailed explanation and advice.

Hey there! How would someone know if it is due to scarring? Will that show up on the ultrasound as well?

If the tech told you, they should not have. Only the doctor should give you test results.

However, it may have appeared in your health portal. I found out I have brain cancer from my health portal before my doctor told me.

I think echogenic means they show as very white because there is no blood flow, they are just lumps of scar tissue, is what I’ve been told.

It means bouncing more light back than normal. Indicating a possible kidney condition. Discuss futher and perhaps more testing/ biopsy with nephrologist to see exactly what. Any futher comments here not valid because not enough Info.
