Kidney Disease Symptoms
Welcome to the forum on Chronic Kidney Disease. You have reached a good site for information and sharing. I was diagnosed at level 3b and did have fatigue.
All the above. Now the bp med puts me to sleep
I suffered with insomnia before kidney disease but now I sleep all the way the night. I found that the fatigue happens gradually over time and you don't notice it straight away. My appetite has never been very good but going to the see the dietician helps.
Can I ask how you removed the insomnia? My mum (CKD3a) intermittently sleeps badly. If we knew when she may sleep badly, wed consider melatonin - but we dont know when!.
I didn't remove the insomnia as such. Literally going through the various stages of CKD strangely my sleep just improved probably because of the fatigue during the day. Tbh when I was first diagnosed with epilepsy I was given melatonin which did make me sleep but I found my brain got used to the dose and I would have to increase the dose again. I decided to come off it and for a while my insomnia was worse than before.
Yes, all of the above symptoms for me.
I am currently in stage 3a. I experience physical fatigue sometimes, but try to push thru and still go to the gym on my gym days (I am an avid gym-goer before being diagnosed, and still go 4x a week, just no more protein supplements). You might want to also monitor your mom's diet. W/ reduced kidney function, it means our kidneys aren't nearly as efficient as getting rid of toxins from the bloodstream and the toxins linger much longer, making us more tired.
Personally, and I am not advocating this, but I have recently switched to a "mostly" plant-based diet to reduce the load on my kidneys (and no more red meat). at minimum, it has helped tremendously w/ some of the itchiness that I had.
Good luck!
