Here is some info regarding a Kidney Study that I will soon participate in. Here it is. If you have questions there is a number to call.

Thank you for your interest in the Kidney Community Connect Study. Thank you for your patience as well as it has been a while since you initially took the survey, but we are now ready to enroll for the Fitbit portion of the study. This is an 8-week study that we hope to understand whether we can use activity trackers and online surveys for kidney-research purposes. During the study, we will ask you to answer questions using your smartphone, wear a physical activity watch (Fitbit) to measure your step counts, and share your step count information with an app. We hope to use what we learn to make improvements in supporting the management of kidney problems in the home and community setting. The Fitbit will also be yours to keep at the end!

The study will be hosted on the Vibrent platform at this link: kcc.vibrenthealth.com/, Please click on this link and create an account with an email you have access to, as you will have to verify your account. Once you are logged in, you will be directed to Vibrent's home page where you can see all available surveys that need to be completed. Once you have completed the consent and screening survey, the study team will reach out to you and mail you a Fitbit device.

Please feel free to reach out to K-C-C@pennmedicine.upenn.edu or 267-324-7588 with any questions in the meantime.

Thanks for letting us know. I just signed up. I don't really need another fitbit....I already have one to motivate myself to get moving ...but it sounds interesting. My current dog, Kiwi, a corgi, just will not walk....she hates it.....so I am going to have to do it on my own, lol.

I am participating in the Fitbit study as well. Just starting my 3rd week. I felt that it is a wonderful way to hopefully help out the Kidney Community ❤️ and so easy to do !!!!

I do use a fit bit, and use Nordic walking poles. I might check into this.

I’ve just completed a brain Research Study In which we were given an Apple Watch. It lasted for a year and a half. And I was given the watch and accumulated points for activities and that turned into cash. You were guaranteed up to $200 dollars. It was very easy, but time consuming. Now there’s a study through the National Kidney Foundation to use an App. But no money is involved, but you’re doing it for the kidney community. I like the Fitbit idea, but the Apple Watch is better, and does more things. The brain research was through the pharmacy CVS.
