Good info. As a plant based or vegetarian diet is recommended for cardiac patients, the two diets are so similar with a few minor adjustments depending on individual lab work for CKD. Same for exercise being good for most all ailments. Similar diet would be good for T2D with more attention to the glycemic index which is good for everyone to follow.

Thanks for the link. I should go there and read more often. There is so much to discover and learn on Davita. A few dozen visits just isn't enough lol

Every CKD patient should read this article. Each person needs to be aware of all comorbidities that apply to them individually including heart disease, T2D, anemia, gout, insomnia and more. The recommended diet from the NKF for most patients (except for those with T2D) appears to be low protein or very low protein according to the NKF guidelines.

I have a heck of a time finding food labels that include phosphorus. Anybody know of resources that help folks know which foods are low phosphorus that are also on the list of low sodium and low potassium, which are on most labels?

Hey, thanks! That helps a lot. Though remembering all that might be an issue. Hmmmm.

Perhaps there might be an app for nutrition on your smart phone that you can use?

I'm getting a new phone before the end of this month, I'll see what's available for the new one. My old one is not very app friendly (not enough memory--wait, like me, ha!)

Here is another link, FDA in US, that will give you everything you wanted to know about what's in food. Make sure you click on the "legacy" tab. There is more than watermelon in their DB
