I have had protein in my urine show up for just under a year. For a little while I also had pain in my kidneys although this seems to have gone. Urine gets frothy particularly when I'm stressed(?) I have had my GFR and an ultrasound done but both are fine. Any ideas? I'm worried cause those tests came back fine that the dr won't do anything. Also got a family history of kidney stones and think maybe I had some pass mid last year.
I'm 22, female, no diabetes and blood pressure is fine.
Thank you!

To begin, your feelings and concerns are absolutely normal. I can just imagine the frustration as well.
The spilling could be caused by a number of things; the good thing is that your other labs, BP are all normal, which happens and you are not diabetic.
Being that you are in the UK and I know that getting referrals to consultants are not easy to get as the GP handles everything.
My thoughts at this point are one of two things; make an appointment with a nephrologist and get his/ her opinion as this has been going on for under a year and you want it stopped.
He/ she will look at your family history and initiate their own specialized tests with their professional expertise to diagnose you.
If that is not possible, get the name of another GP and make an appointment to see them and go from there. If a doctor is not thorough, you may want to get another one.
Bring copies of all of your labs since the spilling began was recognized to the appointment. Check off any tests which flag high or low based on the laboratory ranges.
Get a copy of the ultra sound results. The hospital where you had it done should be able to provide this as well as a CD of the test. Look for patterns in your results.
Just sit tight with all of this; the answers will be found.
Please reach out again and let us know how you are doing.
Some proteinuria is normal in relatively healthy kidneys according to my mum's urologist and that seems to be in agreement with her nephrologist. We've been more concerned with mum's increasing proteinuria for years but it hasn't reached a level where her medical team is concerned.
So it seems to depend on the level. Do you know yours?
One thing to make note of. If you've passed a kidney stone, you KNOW it. I don't think I've ever heard of someone with a stone who would say it was easy.
