Developed ARF after taking sulfa drug, spend about 4 months on dialysis. I’m stage 4 kidney disease with GFR of 25. I was told I can qualify for transplant but would love to find some other way.. Live Rural Nebraska and going to dialysis is problematic.

Does anyone know of another supplement like Albutrix that’s not as expensive. I’ve read good things about it. I’m dieting and exercising, on insulin. For type 2..

Hi-Sorry, your situation sounds difficult. I do take Albutrix, just 2 or 3 a day, and I looked without success for a less expensive alternative. I thought that on dialysis you got a lot of advice about supplements. I think Albutrix is meant for people who are trying to prevent progression to kidney failure, not people who are there. It comes with a supplement that is about 1/3 of the RDA for various vitamins and minerals, if that's any help. Best of luck!

The same product is offered by several websites from India at an average cost of about $16 per 50. Lee Hull making money off his disease at the expense of others in worse shape because the supplement isn’t available or approved generally in the US. I have no specific sites for you but when confronted with Mr. Hull’s info by another member I looked into his info. If you can’t find the information let me know I’ll get you a couple of addresses. I don’t know if we can buy from those sites or not I didn’t look that closely but I did find several just by googling “supplements like Albutrix.” By the way, it’s not some special supplement so if I were you I’d look at the ingredients and search Amazon or something similar to find it. Best of luck to you in your CKD journey.

My pleasure. As a note, I don’t mind helping if you need the help. I reread my first post and thought it may sound like I was unwilling to help with the website search. Of course, I didn’t man for it to sound that way but seemed like it came across with that tone. Bottom line since I’ve done it and have time to search again, let me know if you run into trouble and I’d be glad to help in any way.
