Hello,
Is it normal if you have to reschedule an appt with your nephrologist they make it for six months later. Saying that is the first available appt? Thanks

Yes, quite common now a days with all the shortages of health care workers and the huge influx of CKD.
I would think that your stage of ckd might also be a factor. Hopefully, if a person is at stages 4/5, this would be taken into consideration. Also did you ask to be placed on a list of people to call in case of a cancellation?
Depend from which stage you are and what progress is showed in your last lab. For example if you are 30 EGFR and stable 6 month it's ok. If you are EGFR 15 most likely every month is needed. rgs
if you are living in US it is very common, no matter how serious the problem, many doctors offices are scheduling very far out ! It makes me wonder what the health care system is coming to !!
I tried to get an appt for a dermatolist...called in early Oct and my appt isn't until April.
It seems like every specialist is booked out that long. My nephrologist does an appointment every six months, but I don’t want to wait that long to see if my numbers have changed for the worse, so I asked her if she could do the blood tests every three months, which she had no problem doing. She orders the tests, and I can read my numbers to see where I’m at, without having to see her. This works great for both of us.
