I was diagnosed at CKD 3b and my eGFR varies by as much as 10 points. It is an estimate on how the kidneys are functioning at a given time. Suggest you keep a record or your eGFR results. Stay healthy and keep us posted.

Definitely on the record keeping. I've had to take some pretty major meds in the past 15 years for my other 'incurable' issue - too much spinal fluid in my head - and I knew this day would eventually arrive. I actually feel blessed it waiting until this time in m life to make my life more interesting than it already was!

I was diagnosed CKD at age 75. Diet has helped by eGFR numbers and progression has slowed.

I spent all weekend having panic attacks as a newly enlisted member of our distinguished group no one chooses to be a part of.....Diet issue. Seriously? WTheck CAN you eat? Someone said go gluten free - are they right? Our first trial with air frying was a disaster. My husband was trying to make dinner and didn't catch the part about using planko bread crumbs? Um, yea. Well, let's just say the chicken nuggets were definitely air fried and also covered in FLOUR. And the stories about getting Covid if you're a CKD patient? Panic attacks all weekend at home...I'm only reading the National Kidney Foundation site and CDC - nothing else. I have intracranial hypertension with a shunt in my head and brain surgery didn't mess with me as much as this is. I've learned how to 'research' a diagnosis online, for sure....

Kitkat,

I highly recommend you see a dietician to help you specifically with you diet. I had not heard about gluten free for CKD. I am not sure where you are getting your information from. But be careful, because there is a lot of garbage out there and every person is different. That is why you need to see a dietician. What ever you are reading that is giving you panic attacks, stop reading it. Get the correct information from someone who will set a diet guideline specifically for you. It is so much easier.

I honestly stayed off the computer most of the weekend until last afternoon/evening. Just reality overwhelmed me for some reason. I have no control of my IH and the spinal fluid in my head....However, I do have some control about how this progresses. I'll never give up that's for sure. 10 grandkids need to be seen graduating and becoming adults..... I'll be fine. And yes, I know I need to see a dietician. My coworker's wife is a registered dietitian. She's going to be my 'guiding light'....I don't go to my first Neph appt until November - no openings. So I'm winging it here with you all! until that appt...... Thank you for your support and advice....much much needed and appreciated.....

Yes just checked it 5/20/2018 i was clean and doing good. My creatinine was .82. eGFR IS 94. All the other tests are from when im doing bad in my life. The one from the year before my eGFR was 40 the one 5 months later when i relapsed was 56.
