Welcome. You have come to a good forum for support and education on kidney disease.

I was diagnosed 5 years ago at level 3b CKD. My Doctor put me on a CKD diet based on tests, such as sodium, potassium, phosphorus and protein. The diet has helped me slow down progression of CKD. Attached is a link to National Kidney Foundation explaining eGFR and CKD stages.

Please reach out and keep us informed. Any questions, lease ask.

It is an adjustment but after a while on the diet, it becomes easier. Davita has recipes and diet tracking.

Hi There!

Don’t be fearful. I know how frightening and overwhelming that diagnosis can be. I too was diagnosed with CKD stage 3 about three years ago and I almost lost my mind over worry. But after much prayer and research I found some help. First, I put all my faith in the LORD Jesus to heal and direct me to the steps I should take.

I learned that diet is very crucial. I cut out all meat from my diet and just eat a plant-based protein daily. I am very careful not to use excess salt and I drink a lot of water. I also discovered that resveratrol can be very beneficial to the kidneys so I started taking that. I also try to do intermittent fasting 16 hours a day. I try to walk a half hour daily and keep my blood pressure low.

The combination of these have resulted in a very unexpected improvement in my kidney function tests last month. In fact, my eGFR and creatinine have not looked this good in ten years!

So, please don’t get stressed out over it. Just do research, talk with a good nephrologist and pray to the LORD for His healing and guidance. It’s not the end of the story…There always hope!

God bless you! ♥️

Just to say you have came to the right place. We have all been there. I was in a very bad place when I was first diagnosed. However you end up just getting on with it. Follow the advice you have been given above. There are some amazing people on this site, who sometimes seem to know more than my medical team. Keep asking questions or just come on here when you are feeling overwhelmed by it all. This site has helped so many people and its because they have experienced it. Its OK to feel the way you do and you will get days when you are down. However you will soon tackle it head on and start taking it in your stride. You are stage 3. You still have time to improve your function. Big hugs. You can do this. You are stronger than you think!!!!

I was shocked, scared, overwhelmed, and devastated when I was diagnosed. You are not alons. With time, it will get easier. You will still have to think about it daily in terms of what you eat etc. But you will find you can general have a normal life especially in stage 3.

Finding some support whether it be friends, family, faith community, or any other community will be so helpful as well. You could even connect with a therapist.

It helps to know that you were a well. I know I'm not alone in my reaction but it still is comforting to hear that.

Stay strong and know that God is with you. Start a social media page to tell your story and ask for a kidney donor. The more eyes you can get on you story the better. I was blessed with a miracle and got a new kidney from a stranger that I never met before. Miracles happen every day and just keep praying and keep the faith over fear.

get on a kidney friendly diet. Watch potassium and phosphorus. Drink plenty of water and exercise. Trust me you don’t want to end up in ESRD and on dialysis. Work hard and hopefully you can keep this from progressing. I wish I had realized how serious my PKD diagnosis was but I was young and felt invincible, sadly not the case. Now I am waiting on a long endless transplant list.

It can be scary. Acceptance of your disease is a greaT start. Talk with your nephrologist ask him or her wHat cause your kidney disease. What steps can they recommend to keep it at stage 3 or improve it as long as you can. I knew my disease was inherited pkd so I knew only so much in my control. I stayed in stage three for over 20 years. I was very active I did aqua Ari three times a week and I enjoyed swimming. Stage four didn’t hit me until my 50s stage five just came recently and I’m 66 . Now I walk a lot . I admitted in stAge three I was a soda drinker I gave that up not good for kidneys . I try to eat a healthy diet best I can .

I know there are medications out there now that are suppose to help with kidney disease I know some people here have talk about being on them so may want to ask your neph about them .

Glad you mentioned knowing the underlying reason for the diagnosis. That makes a huge difference in the recommendation of diets, meds, etc.
