Hi guys

I’m having a partial nephrectomy tomorrow to remove a 2cm tumour found in my right kidney. Only found while I was having gallbladder investigations. Anyone here has this done that can tell me what to expect?? I’m getting scared now. Age 50.

Hi dublin1717

I'm sorry I can't help with your question, but wanted to say that I hope that all goes well for you tomorrow, and wish you a speedy recovery.

I'm sure that you will receive some experienced responses, but it can take a while for people to see your post.

you will be fine. Hopefully yoy are at a hospital that tests the margins while you are in surgery and do not have tI send it off. Keep us posted. 🙏

Yes, you will be fine. I had this done thirteen years ago, for renal cell carcinoma, also on the right side. I was in the hospital for three days. My incision was crazy glued closed, I was sent home with a list of does and don't but could walk as much as I liked as long as there was no pain. I started my walks again the second day after I was released. I was monitored for ten years to ensure the cancer did not return. I am still cancer free. I am also seven months post transplant.

i had both kidneys removed 16 years ago. I was released to go home on day 5. It was a smooth transition. I also gotup and started walking the hospital halls daily. Was easíer surgery than my c-sections and my rotator cuff surgery was 20 times more difficult especially recovery.

Hang in there. Blessings

I had a partial robotic nephrectomy on my left kidney 3 months ago. Tumor was 49mm. Within 5 days I was well and walking around. Good luck

Hi Dublin1717, I hope by now you are on your way to recovery. My urologist told me to avoid salt and protein post surgery, but not until a week and a half after the surgery. I had a lot of burning in my colon and bloating. I wish I had known from day one that I should avoid salt and protein. I also have phantom kidney pain. I am in my mid 70's and was in excellent health before the discovery of the kidney tumor. I am slowly getting my energy back, but slowly. You are a lot younger than I am, so I expect you to recover quicker. I wish you all the best.
