Help, have a question

Can anyone explain to me, in layman's terms, what this means "a faint abnormal protein band is detected in the gamma globulins and may represent a monoclonal immunoglobulin or light chain."

I had lab work done and it was in the results page under protein electrophoresis.

I googled it but didn't really understand it all. Thanks for any help.

If you dont have an appt with your renal specialist shortly, maybe you can call your lab and ask them for generic explanation of the terms. It seems as if they're measuring your proteins and you may want to lnow why. Good luck on getting some answers.

If you haven't had issues in past with first one detected then probably just some light chains...very small.

No, I don't recall ever having this these tests before. I have a new neph and she ordered a slew of new (for me) tests. Thanks

You need to talk to your nephrologist. If no appt. soon, then give his office a call.
