I just had lab work done. My urea nitrogen and creatinine have gone up, but my urine creatinine, random and urine tp creatinine has gone down. How can that be. On the good side other labs are great and my protein spillage has gone down.

I keep trying to figure these labs out and just can't. I will go over them with my doctor in a week or so.

Thanks.

I have the same thing. My BLOOD creatinine is up, urine down. I am interpreting that to the concept that my kidneys are not removing creatinine from my blood to pass out in the urine. I was also not as hydrated as I usually am when I do labs, and urine samples so I am wondering if that had an impact.

That makes perfect sense. I'm thinking the hydration issue too. I usually take a good long drink before I leave but didn't this morning. My main problem, I think, is the protein and I'm over the moon that it's come down. Thanks...

Thats a good thing about the protein. I just wrote a post about labs. I usually get so worked up over the numbers but now, I see the tests are so imperfect that I am going to stop perseverating over them.

I agree, they are just numbers and when you get that most only show what is going on at the minute, second, the blood is drawn what's the point? That's why I've decided to do them all fasting whether or not they need to.

yes… takes more fluid in hot weather make a concerted effort to drink half your body weight. I had it happen too and flushed my kidney numbers back to normal.

I usually do drink that much water, but it was a fasting lab and I forgot to drink my glass of water before I left.

That's normal. You should think your kidney as filter. Urine is result of filtration job of your kidney in the blood. If less creatinine in your urine, in most of cases, means more in the blood. rgs
