Can't Relax

Hi

I feel so stressed right now. I am going through a tough time right now. I can feel the tension in my body. I just can't switch off. Before dialysis I would have a really hot long bath with lavender oil but I can't even do that. Is there any relaxation treatments or techniques suitable for me as I am on PD and I have fluid in 24/7.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Dora, I’m sorry your going through a hard time. Maybe can you call a friend or someone in your family to talk to? Sometimes music is the only thing that helps me. I don’t know what kind of music you like, but this is a song I listen to sometimes when I’m having a hard time. Lauren Daigle—Rescue

Hi Dora, so sorry you are having a rough time. Have you tried meditating? That helps me a lot, maybe burn a soy candle scented with lavender to help relax.

Sorry that you're having a rough time. Talk to us if you can and let us know what's going on in your life. I have periods where I cant shut off my mind and then I cant fall asleep. Funny as it may sound, but I put the radio on that's on my night table and listen to anything thats on. Sone tine it's just music but mostly it's someone giving their opinion about one thing or another. Listening I'm usually amused, agreeable, or annoyed. In any event, it gets me out of my head and I often fall fast asleep. BTW reading some simple stuff like a fun magazine also helps me.During the day, I l try to get outdoors especially if theres sunshine and take a wall or I may call a friend and chat.

Try music. And get outside in fresh air and sunshine if you can. Be around trees and nature. It really is the best therapy to dig in the dirt. Plant a garden in some pots.

Hey Dora so sorry you’re going through a hard time, you’re not alone because I am too. Have you tried meditation? It helps a lot. I’ve started meditating since first of March and I’m following up with a life coach, there are Chakra’s which are energy points in our bodies that usually get influenced by our daily life hardships, when you re-energize and clean those points it affects your health and body in a positive way. Because all of the negativity that’s going on in our lives its just making our health go down. Meditation is the only way we can free ourselves from all this negativity and feel better. Hi Dora86 im sorry your struggling at the moment. I dont think there's anyone on here that hasn't been through periods like yours. This disease comes with some mental as well as physical problems as im sure most would agree on here. There no one solution that fits everyone, i have found my Audible library to be indispensable as i struggle to concentrate enough to read now having someone with a nice voice read to me has relaxed me enough to actually send me off to sleep sometimes. You could give something like that a try. Also theres a wonderful range of adult colouring books available now that i find can distract me from my thoghts for hours at a time. Just a few suggestions, im sure you will find something that works for you. I cant help much with the medical side of things as im in the UK and they test differently here.
