Improved Kidney Function

My husband has been at 15 with his kidney function for over a year. Yesterday he came in at 24. How can this happen? Grateful but confused. We see his Neurologist on Tue.

If he had an acute kidney injury for some reason (caused by something such as medication, kidney stones, or a UTI) it would be likely to improve.you don't say whether he has changed diet, if so this could have helped.

He went through a spell with no appetite and lost some weight. Just wondering if the lower GFR is short term. Time will tell.

Hi Snowpeak. Indeed, losing weight will improve GFR - less food byproducts for the kidneys to process.

Great to Hear Snowpeak! infection (such as COVID) can also lower GFR temporarily. Has he noticed that before with infections/colds/flus?

Has he been diagnosed for CKD?

Yes, he has been diagnosed with CKD. He has been Stage 4 and almost Stage 5 for several years.
