My husband was. He’s Stage 3. The first time he went to the nephrologist after starting it he was taken off of it. The N said it had really messed up his lab results and was too hard on his kidneys.

Thanks for replying lindsey, did ur husbands nephrologist recommend another blood pressure tablet.

Yes. And it seems to be working. But I would say each situation is different so work with your doctor to find the right one for you. My husband and I are both Stage 3 and we take different BP meds. I tried one that he had taken before and I coughed horribly for about 6 weeks, even after I was taken off it.

It does take time to find the right medication to suit each individual. My dad was currently taking 5 blood pressure tablets, he is also stage 3. Candesartan, lisopril... Blood pressure and kidney disease seems to coinside.. And its so difficult to treat. U take whatever the consultant recommends, and pray it works, sometimes it doesnt. Thanks again.

The lisinopril is what made me cough. When I complained they told me that was a side effect for some people. His nephrologist had taken my husband off of it for another reason. Don’t remember what it was.

Hi lindsey, did ur cough ease when ur stopped lisinopril. Dads has almost gone, thankfully. Ur right it takes time to find the right medication and it takes longer to find a good doctor.

It took a couple of months for mine to subside. I think that is unusual though. I’ve been told it usually stops sooner.
