What ulcer medication is OK to take with Kidney problems. From what I read, Nexium and PPI's and medications like Pepcid are hard on the kidneys. What can safely be taken for ulcers or acid reflux? Or, Are they OK to take as long as it is not for a long period.
Ulcer Medication question: What ulcer... - Kidney Disease
Ulcer Medication question
This is a question I would like to know the answer to. I have been on Nexium 40 mg 2x day for several years now . If I don’t take it I get webs/ strictures in esophagus and erosions like almost Barrett’s Esophagus. Scary . Now stage 3 b??Dr didn’t bother to tell me this I found out by searching my medical records. Sucks that Drs don’t communicate with patients . Like I had a heart attack but the ER didn’t tell me!!!
Gave me nitro, aspirin bunch blood work and ekg and told me follow up with pcp
Whom I haven’t even met and my Dr retired over a year and a half ago and I’ve never met this pcp !
I don’t understand 😡
Thank you for your reply... I think I got acid reflux when they told me I got 3A Kidney. Also I am in line for 2 more unreladted surgeries. I fear taking the pepcid. I was told Pepcid A/C is a different medication and is safer, but what do i know. I think i will only need this a month.. but still worried it will hurt me.
I think I’d just check with the Pharmacist since it’s hard to get answers from Drs they probably know a lot more about the drug than Dr lolUpon learning of my undisclosed diagnosis of Kidney Disease I have since thought of all the contrasts I’ve had injected over the years probably a lot more dangerous than reflux. That and all the ibuprofen! Good luck with surgeries if you have contrast drink a lot of water to flush it out of your kidneys. Just personal opinion not medical advice 😊
Thank you... did not think of that, pharmacist do know a lot about medications
